Tuinfotodag

Het is weer maandag (ahem...) dus tuinfotodag. Hier mijn keuze van deze week:

Dit is een ooievaarsbek geranium. Ik weet niet welke soort het is, maar hij heeft in-en-in violette bloemen met dieproze streepjes erin, en bloeit heel lang en uitbundig aan het eind van de zomer. Hij woekert een beetje en houdt onkruid tegen, maar verdringt andere planten niet, toch groeit hij wel door kale planten heen. Een van mijn favoriete planten!

Kennen je MOO al? Ze hebben de mooiste visitekaartjes, minicards, stickers, ansichtkaarten en nog veel meer voor je bedrijfje (of gewoon voor jezelf). Ook krijg je op hun site veel hulp en ideeen om iets moois van je bestelling te maken.

Ikzelf heb een tijdje geleden deze minicards bij ze besteld. Op de voorkant staat wat tekst en de gegevens van mijn winkeltje, en voor de achterkant heb ik een aantal verschillende foto"s van producten uit mijn winkel uitgekozen. Tuinfotodag

Het is weer maandag dus tuinfotodag. Hier mijn keuze van deze week:

De bijna volledige oogst van dit jaar: ik had voor het eerst tomatenplantjes gekocht en heb nu wel 3 (!) van deze ieniemini tomaatjes. Ze zijn ongeveer 1 cm groot, zeg maar een kwart van een gewone cherry tomaat.
Ik heb ze verwaarloosd door ze in een pot te laten staan; volgend jaar probeer ik het opnieuw en dan zet ik ze echt in de grond.

Almost all of this year's harvest: I had bought some tomato plants for the first time and now I have as many as 3 of these teeny tiny tomatoes. They measure about 1 cm, about a quarter of the size of a regular cherry tomato.
I neglected them and left them in a small pot all summer; next year I'll try again and I promise to plant them out into the garden.

Ook ik ben de laatste tijd aan de haak! Na mijn bloemetjes ben ik een tijdje Granny Squares gaan haken. Zie hier het resultaat:

Like many others, I am doing a lot of crocheting these days! Since my little flowers I have been making a bunch of Granny Squares:

Ik weet nog niet wat het gaat worden, of of het iets gaat worden, maar ik vind ze wel erg leuk. Bij de bovenste 3 heb ik bewust de kleuren zo gekozen, bij de onderste 3 heb ik willekeurig een bolletje uit mijn tasje gevist. Resultaat blijft leuk vind ik.

Daarna heb ik me aan de Amigurumi gewaagd, en het werd Winston het olifantje. Om de 1 of andere reden kwam het lijfje, dat een bolletje moest worden, er bij mij zo uit:

I am not sure what they will become (if anything) but I like them lots. For the 3 on the top line I picked the matching colors on purpose, for the bottom ones I fished out a random ball of yarn from my stash bag. The result is still cute, I think.

After that I tried Amigurumi, and chose the "Winston het olifantje" pattern. For some reason the body, which should have been a nice round ball shape, came out like this:

Rechts zie je poging 2, die precies dezelfde rare vorm ging krijgen dus daar ben ik maar mee gestopt. Poging 3 werd iets beter maar nog steeds niet helemaal zoals het hoort:

Nu begon ik een beetje te balen, en toen vervolgens mijn moeder, die ik het patroontje ook had gemaild, al 2 olifantjes en ook nog een draakje had gehaakt, baalde ik er flink van en heb het verder laten liggen. Haar bolletjes zijn wel rond, en een stuk kleiner dan de mijne, dus ik denk dat ik te los haak. Misschien nog wat meer oefenen.

Op naar het volgende haakproject dan maar: zoals zo veel mensen ben ik helemaal weg van Attic24 en haar Granny Stripe deken (er is inmiddels zelfs een Flickr group van!). Een deken leek me wel iets te hoog gegrepen, dus begon ik aan een sjaaltje. Hier vond ik een nederlandse vertaling van haar patroon (normaal gesproken is engels geen probleem maar dit was toch best handig met die haaktermen) dus aan de slag. Alleen liep ik weer tegen een probleem aan:

I started to feel a little bummed out by now, and after my mum, to who I had emailed the pattern, showed me not 1 but 2 elephants and a little dragon she had crocheted already, I was fed up with the whole thing. Her balls did come out nice and round, and also a lot smaller than mine, so I think the problem is probably me crocheting too loose. Maybe I need just a little more practice.

On to the next crocheting project: like so many others I just loooooove Attic24 and her Granny Stripe blanket (it even has it's own Flickr group!). A blanket seemed a little out of my reach, so I am going for a scarf. I found a dutch translation of the pattern here (normally english is no problem for me but with the crocheting terminology it's a bit more difficult). So happily I started on this new project only to run into some trouble again:

De eerste rij was veel te strak! Het zag er niet uit. Dus opnieuw begonnen, alleen nu met 3 steken tussen elk 'cluster'. Dit kwam wel mooi uit, maar nu vond ik de willekeurige kleuren toch niet zo leuk. Het is wel de bedoeling dat ik het ga dragen, en ik ben niet zo van de kleurtjes (qua kleding dan he) dus maar weer opnieuw begonnnen met dit als resultaat tot nu toe:

The first row turned out way too tight! It looked horrible. So I started over, only now skipping 3 stitches between each 'cluster' instead of 2. This worked out perfectly, but now I didn't like the randomness of the colors. After all, I want to be wearing this thing and I'm not into too much color (for clothes that is) so I started over yet again and this is the result so far:

In alleen rood, roze en paars tinten. Ik vind het een mooie kleurencombi die ik ook wel denk te gaan dragen. Staat ook mooi op alleen zwart denk ik. Ik ben alleen pas op een derde, en ik ben al 3 weken bezig. Hoe al die mensen het voor elkaar krijgen om een hele deken te haken is me ook echt een raadsel!

In only reds, pinks and purples. I like the color combination and I think I will be wearing this (will probably look great wearing all black). The only problem is, I only finished about a third of the thing, and have been crocheting like mad for over 3 weeks now! How anyone can ever finish crocheting a blanket is beyond me!
